every semester, without fail, there’s some freshman who’s like “oh I never check my email lol” and i get worried for them, bc they’re going to miss some important email about a pop quiz or a test, or something and then fail. so if you’re a freshman reading this, CHECK YOUR EMAIL im not joking, professors will send you stuff via email that they’ll never mention in class. I’m in my email every hour on the hour before and after class. check that shit. put that app on ur phone, turn on notifs, go in and refresh every hour, check your spam, check your email

This is serious, and it’s regardless of your field of study. I had a music ensemble director who would email out arrangements and then expect us to come to rehearsal about 3 hours later having printed them out and learned them already.

Like, I could come up with a bunch of examples of Thor being hella smart, but let’s go with the most obvious one in this movie.
Thor specifically told the Guardians NOT to go to Knowhere. He told them they wouldn’t be able to stop Thanos from getting the Reality Stone anyway, and knew 100% that he needed to be more powerful to face him.
Not only was he right in the sense that, with Stormbreaker, he came super close to defeating Thanos with all 6 Stones, but also, if the Guardians had all gone with him to Nidavellir instead, Thanos wouldn’t have captured Gamora, he wouldn’t have found the Soul Stone, and he would’ve had to face the Avengers AND the Guardians on earth with one less Stone.
Moral of the story: Thor is INCREDIBLY smart and 100% knows what he’s doing, and people need to start paying attention to him more.
Thor seems dumb because he’s compared to Loki’s scheming.
Loki seems weak because he’s fighting a god of thunder.
My AP Psych teacher from high school keeps binders and notebooks with dicks drawn on them to use as visual aids for the Freudian unit.
One time she did this life changing little “experiment” where she ever so calmly asked guys why they draw penises on things. They tried to say “it’s just funny” or “you don’t understand” and she just kept saying “you’re right, I don’t understand. Explain to me. You already know what a penis looks like, why do you have to draw it on things? Are you marking it? Are you tagging it? Girls don’t draw vaginas on things.” And the guys suddenly started questioning their motives for everything they do and one guy was like “ms, stop talking about penises, you’re making us uncomfortable.” And she shouted “HOW DO YOU THINK WE FEEL SEEING DICKS DRAWN ON STUFF ALL THE TIME?”
We’ve all seen that Gothel makes Rapunzel come to her for hugs, but today I realized it goes deeper than that. Gothel doesn’t want Rapunzel showing physical affection unless she has been given specific permission. Opening her arms is that unspoken permission.
For example, towards the beginning, when she’s reminding Gothel that it’s her birthday tomorrow, she grabs her arm in exuberance. Gothel is put out and then pries Rapunzel’s hands off her arm, all the while pretending she doesn’t remember (or care) that her birthday – something Rapunzel is extremely excited about – is fast approaching.
She also uses Rapunzel’s need for physical affection, deliberately taunting and “teaching” her with it by pretending to offer it, then taking it away immediately.
The first bazzilionty times I saw this movie, I always assumed Rapunzel was relieved to see Gothel towards the end of Mother Knows Best just because she was scared.
But now I realize it’s not only because she’s scared, but because Gothel is now giving Rapunzel permission to seek the creature comfort of physical contact that she so desperately needs after the gamut of fear she’s run.
Eugene, on the other hand, starts showing physical affection as soon as he starts feeling any affection for Rapunzel at all. He uses it as a comfort. Yet Rapunzel keeps her hands to herself.
It continues when he gives her the little flag, touching the small of her back in an affectionate way. But her hands (and attention) are full at this moment.
In fact, the first time she realizes she’s touching him, and he’s touching her, and there’s affection and enjoyment buzzing between them, she’s the first to pull away.
She’s alarmed at first, then apologetic and sheepish. Sorry I was touching you, Eugene. And he politely takes a step back, tuned in to her discomfort and giving her a little more space.
But that is why the moment on the boat is so important, and why Rapunzel has the reaction she does.
In taking Rapunzel’s hand, out of the blue (as far as she can tell), it’s sending her a clear message that he feels the same about her that she does about him, and that physical affection is both alright and wanted. That he will seek out her attention in a way Gothel never has. And from this moment on, she touches him often, holding hands for the rest of the song, brushing his hair from his face as he lay dying, and never letting go of his head, even after he’d died in her arms. Not to mention kissing him when he lives again, holding hands on the balcony while they wait for her parents and end-of-movie smooching.
this also gives added depth to the hug she and her real parents collapse into at the end of the movie
i’m gonna make another post with the correct link because i don’t think ya’ll understand how crucial this is. i calculated my monthly payments and by the end of the month i’m looking at about $800 left in my bank account. which, yeah, may not seem so bad, but i literally only get paid twice a month so that means after pay day, i will have two weeks to try and keep that $800 from falling too far. i have a pet bill i have to pay $109. i still have to take my cat in for a consult which is another $100. i have to take my dog in for his checkup by the end of the week. $100. plus my credit card payments are automatically withdrawn. roughly $200 all together. i have my car insurance and phone bill to pay. that’s about $100 all together. these are my expenses, not including the $300 i have to pay my parents, the $250-$300 for my son’s daycare, or my mental health med appointments and meds which cost between $45-$60. that’s a lot of money that isn’t even fully calculated in. i just spent $200 for my car and i need to get an oil change which rounds up to $60 at the most. that is way more money than i make. if i were to pay everything by my next paycheck, i would be broke. i still have gas to pay for, my son needs clothes that fit him, i just….guys, i REALLY need help. i’m struggling. i was struggling before but this really pushes that. unless i get a better paying job that’s full time or i get put full time at my current job, there is absolutely no way i can manage this each month. this is worth more than my paychecks. as soon as i get my paycheck, it’ll be gone in a flash. i need help. please. help me. i still have to make an appointment for the eye doctor to see if my eyes are going bad because i feel like they are and idk how much that’s gonna cost cause i know my insurance covers it, but not ALL of it so i have no idea what that expense is gonna be and that scares me a lot.

please, please help me. idk what else to do. i’ve been applying for new jobs all night but who knows what’s gonna happen with that. i just….i need help. i don’t want to move back to my hometown just because it’s cheaper, because i really don’t want the chance of seeing my son’s sperm donor, but it’s looking like the best option every day. i don’t want that. i just want to take care of myself and my son and try to make a life for us. i’m a part time college student, i work 25-30 hours a week, i come home and take care of my son, and i struggle to get through it all.
