My super advanced mapmaking technique – a handful of dice makes the map nice

interesting method

My question is do the die affect topography any or just set the borders?

I imagine it’s up to the person making the map. But maybe the more dice in a single spot, the more mountainous or forested the area. Maybe choose a few dice to be deemed cities, and some dice for ruins.

Maybe let the dice choose, like a nat 20 would be the world capital, and 10’s would be mountains or something like that.

1-5: Plains and fields

6-8: Forests

9-11: Mountains

12-14: Tundras and snow covered lands

15-17: Farms and towns

18-19: Larger cities

20: Capitals and castles

what would happing if all the dice landed on a 20?

then you have a very busy continent

not all of those are d20s though, so you’d have to come up with another method for the other ones

Adjusted for all dice you might have

D20

1-5: Plains and fields

6-8: Forests

9-11: Mountains

12-14: Tundras and snow covered lands

D12

1-3: Plains and fields

4-6: Forests

7-8: Mountains

9-10: Tundras and snow covered lands

11: Farms and towns

12: Larger cities

D10

1-3: Plains and fields

7-8: Mountains

9: Tundras and snow covered lands

10: Farms and towns

D8

1-4: Plains and fields

5-6: Forests

7: Mountains

8: Tundras and snow covered lands

D6

1-3: Plains and fields

4: Forests

5-6: Mountains

D4

1-2: Plains and fields

3: Forests

4: Mountains

Holy shit. Definitely using this.

I swore at how simple this motherfucking thing is. You’re all bastards and i love you.

((This is genius, seriously))

If y’all use a decent box mix and use melted butter instead of vegetable oil, an extra egg, and milk instead of water, no one can tell the difference. I sure as hell can’t.

Also, if you add a little almond extract to vanilla cake, or a little coffee to chocolate cake, it sends it through the roof.

This concludes me attempting to be helpful.

yo I can vouch for this
I’ve done this for the last few cakes I’ve made and holy crap it makes suuuuch a difference
the cake is still fluffy, but it also seems more dense, and it doesn’t dry out
like at all
you can leave it uncovered on the counter all day after being cut into, and it won’t get all crusty and dry
this is an amazing way to take your cakes to the next level

Does this count as cake hacks?

I don’t get the man one ?

the entire series is focused on stopping all abuse

the man here has his mouth covered up by a woman wearing a wedding ring. meaning he is being abused by his wife. of the men i’ve known and spoken to about being abused by their wives, one of the common ways wives will try to “make up” for the abuse is literally with money. fucking crazy sad shit but women who abuse their men (bf or husband) also believe us to be super materialistic and so they can just buy us. i could go on but i don’t want to. it’s too fucking gross.

image

this is clearly pedophila in the catholic church. a profoundly evil act that is is primarily aimed at little boys.

image

this is child molestation in the black community that tarted little black girls overwhelmingly. usually by a family member and usually a male family member with candy being used to buy their silence.

image

and this is an abused wife. the hand is male wearing a wedding ring. similar to the wife abusing the husband, an attempt to buy silence happens with flowers, candy and jewelry being the common gifts.

image

i respect that this artist (a woman i believe) covered such a wild range of abuse even the ones we don’t talk about.

hey. hey. I have a confession

I fuckin LOVE dialogue as a first line. I adore it. whenever I flip open a book and the first line is dialogue I’m like hell YES this is my SHIT

there’s lists of, uh, TOP TEN WAYS YOU SHOULD NEVER START YOUR NOVEL EVER and “opening with dialogue” is always on them

the gist being that it’s bad bc the reader doesn’t care about this character yet so why are they gonna care about this dialogue, right, they don’t have any context for it, you should start with something that gets the reader invested and emotionally pulled in, so on, so forth

(and I’m not here to argue or call bullshit on these lists or anything…… 99% of the time, the reasons listed of why you should Maybe Not Do The Thing are perfectly valid concerns and dangers that should be taken into consideration)

(this post is more a ramble about personal preference with a nice moral at the end)

(and definitely not a TOP TEN REASONS “TOP TEN WAYS YOU SHOULD NEVER START YOUR NOVEL EVER” LISTS ARE LIES AND SLANDER post god could you imagine)

but yeah, for me, dialogue opening lines pull me right the fuck in emotionally. for real. nine times out of ten they’ll yank me in and have me engaged instantaneously. always have, probably always will

(like come on. have y’all never just started eavesdropping right in the middle of some total strangers’ conversation on the bus. especially if it’s somethin weird. it’s so good)

but ANYWAY, the moral is uhhhh

whatever Mortal Writing Sin you wanna commit, there’s probably at least one weirdo out there possibly named logan who digs it

do whatever the fuck you want, honestly

you can write an opening scene that does everything every advice page tells you to do with an opening scene and it can still be shit

you can write an opening scene doing everything every advice page tells you NEVER to do with your opening scene and it can still be fabulous and engaging

if you can pull it off, literally who cares

“if you can pull it off, literally who cares“ is the only real writing rule

Hey @support @staff you know what would be great? It’d be great if this site had a block feature that actually blocked.

If I block a blog it means I don’t want them to be able to access mine in any capacity. Imagine my surprise when I constantly see them stalking my blog in my IP tracker when I’m never on their blog or want to think about them at all because it stresses me out. Even as recently as 2 days ago. Yeah, I saw you. Why are you here? What are you expecting to find? A post where I trash your entire existence? You won’t find that. I don’t spend my life like that.

They should not be able to send me anonymous asks, but they can. Whose bright idea was this? Sure, we’ll let you block your abusers and stalkers snd stuff but they can still send you all kinds of anon messages all the want to d

I don’t want to be able to see them on my dash. Blacklist works on my computer but I still have to see them on mobile. I blocked them for a reason, tumblr.

No other social media platform has a problem understanding what “block” means except you, tumblr. Please get it together.

Spread this like wildfire @staff @support

Dudes same. @staff @support I’ve had the same problem. Fix this crap!

Same here! The same minor I blocked and exposed a couple weeks ago has been lurking, but unable to find anything!
