the other day I met an anti-vaxxer at work… but for her dogs. she doesn’t vaccinate her dogs. she doesn’t give them any chemicals because “who knows what goes into them!” (the ingredients are on the box) “they’re fine without them in the wild!” (you have a fucking yorkie)
I tried calmly explaining to her that hey, in our county, it’s actually illegal to not vaccinate your dogs! if the police found out that her dogs were not vaccinated, they could take her dogs and potentially euthanize them, but 100000% remove them from her home. you are legally required in this county to have your dogs current on all vaccinations and have their rabies tag on their bodies at all times! I could report you! to the county! vaccinate! your fucking! dogs!
I was literally blocking her from leaving the aisle we were on. like, moving in front of her cart every time she tried to push past me. just like – no? no. no. I cannot let you leave this building without practically screaming in your face YOUR DOG COULD DIE IF IT IS NOT VACCINATED, YOU STUPID TWAT.

she also doesn’t “believe in” flea or heart worm medication (which like???? what’s there to believe in????) and idk if you guys know this but this summer has been really bad for heart worm and lyme disease in house pets, not just stray ones! like dogs who have homes and owners are testing positive for heart worms and lyme disease all over the country because mosquitos, flies and ticks are so bad this year. also we live in georgia! there’s no flea season in georgia! flea season is literally march until december, and then they’re still there january and february but people just think the itching is dry skin. like. THIS IS A BIG DEAL.
she got mad at me and asked to speak to the manager and I was like “LOL OK LET’S GO FIND HIM” and of course his brain kicked in faster than mine (I was flabbergasted – I didn’t know such people existed) and told her, I quote, “ma’am, dogs must be vaccinated and leashed to be in this store. currently your dog is neither, so I’m going to have to ask you to leave. also, my associate is correct and we can in fact report you to the state for not vaccinating your dogs. there have been cases of feral cats in our area who tested positive for rabies so it is a very real risk you’re taking by not vaccinating them. here, I’ll walk you to your car.”

“my dog hasn’t been to the vet in almost ten years and he’s as healthy as a horse” ok #1 your dog is SEVERELY underweight and probably has diabetes judging by how much it peed EVERYWHERE. #2 I actually fucking believe you because any reputable veterinarian would not let you walk out of their clinic without vaccinating your dog. the beginning of this year I went past yeezy’s renewal date for his vaccinations by two days because I was out of the state, AND OUR VET CALLED ME SEVEN TIMES IN THOSE TWO DAYS REMINDING ME TO BRING HIM IN. THEY’RE A SMALL PRIVATELY OWNED PRACTICE AND I KNOW ALMOST ALL OF THE TECHS AND RECEPTIONISTS THERE, THEY DON’T HAVE THE STAFF TO DO THAT, BUT THEY DID, BECAUSE THEY LOVE YEEZY AND WANT HIM TO BE SAFE AND HEALTHY. ALSO BECAUSE I TECHNICALLY COULDN’T TAKE HIM OUT IN PUBLIC WITHOUT THOSE VACCINATIONS.

At my last company, one day someone in accounting approached me at lunch and quietly told me I need to ask for a raise because I was way underpaid.
They gave me a number to shoot for. It was about twice than what I had been making at the time.
So I went online, did some research, found some figures backing up my claim, put it all together and went to my boss.
I got what I asked for.
If it hadn’t been for that person in accounting telling me I was way underpaid, I’d have never known. I went from barely scraping by to being able to have a savings account and getting all my debts paid thanks to them.
You should at least check sites like salary.com to start the process of seeing what you should be making.
